DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Supervise all food service personnel.
  • Plans and supervises the preparation and serving all menus at all schools.
  • Interprets to the administration, staff, and public Federal and State standards and guidelines of the school food service and the school food service programs
  • Purchase and maintains an inventory
  • Acts as supervisor for employment of all food service employees.
  • Recommends prices charges for various types of lunches.
  • Works with Business Manager in maintaining financial records.
  • Supervises payroll records.
  • Assists in maintaining records of individual school lunch receipts and deposits.
  • Assists in preparation of yearly budget.
  • Informs the public through local media of planned lunch menus on a weekly basis.
  • Complies with all rules and regulations pertaining to the Type A lunch.
  • Supervises the planning and/or operation of any special meals required for district sponsored events.
  • Maintains records, monies, and federal and state reports in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Attends Board meetings as directed.
  • Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as the superintendent and/or board may deem necessary.
  • Must be American School Food certified within two years of employment.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. 
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals. 
  • Ability to effectively communicate in one-on-one and small group situations to parents, students, and other employees of the district.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables. 
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to work in a friendly manner and to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community. 
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies, and applicable laws.
