CSI AND LCSC EXPAND LOCAL ACCESS TO EDUCATION DEGREES
TWIN FALLS, ID – The College of Southern Idaho (CSI) and Lewis-Clark State College (LCSC) recently signed a joint agreement that will allow local students to complete a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education without having to leave the Magic Valley. Under the terms of the new 3 + 1 agreement, students will complete approximately 74 credits through CSI with the final 52 credits of the 126 credit degree offered by LCSC online and through local clinical and internship experiences throughout Southern Idaho.
“It’s no secret that Southern Idaho is facing a critical teacher shortage. This partnership with LCSC will significantly expand access for aspiring teachers to get the training they need to enter the field of education at an affordable price and without having to leave the local area,” said CSI President Dean Fisher. “We are excited to partner with LCSC and I can’t thank them enough for their assistance in getting this agreement put in place.”
Lewis-Clark State College President Cynthia Pemberton also praised the new agreement. “We are excited to partner with CSI on this important initiative to increase the number of qualified teachers in southern Idaho,” Pemberton said. “LC State was founded to produce quality teachers in 1893, and for 128 years we’ve done just that.”
